Pole Barn Builder Charged with Deceptive Business Practices

In York, PA a well-known pole barn building company is facing charges for failing to deliver materials customers had already made down payments for. The builder, National Barn Company, has been charged with deceptive business practices, theft and receiving stolen property and the person named in the lawsuit is company president Lowell Thomas II.

Two criminal complaints have been filed this year against the company, both in Penn Township. A Virginia man claims he paid $6,150 for a deposit and an engineer drawing for a $15,260 pole barn. A second Virginia man claims to have made a $5,859 down payment on a $17,753 pole barn and was told he would receive the materials within six to eight weeks of his order but to date has not received anything.

In his defense Thomas has told police that issues with permits and the purchase contract has led to delays in delivery. In addition to his role as president of the National Barn Company Thomas is also president of Patriax Log Structures, a cabin-building company at the same address.

A preliminary hearing on the charges has been scheduled for December 17th.
