Pole Barns as Residences

The versatility of the pole barn building has long been known but recently there has been an even greater push to make the post-frame buildings homes. People who want to use half a pole barn for a work or repair shop can also design the building so they can have living quarters as well. This solves two problems at once and gives independent workers a great idea for where to set up shop.
All it takes is the right permit to establish residency in a pole building. Check with your local building authorities to find out what you need to do in order to be eligible to have your pole barn made into a residence.
Before workers may have to sleep out of vans of trailers and then drive to work. Now many can simply attach their home to their work space so they can make life easier and more affordable. The idea of the pole barn as home gets more appealing as people see what new additions are available for pole buildings including custom lighting, carpeting and entertainment centers.
If your pole barn is big enough, you can section off certain quarters to be used for construction, welding, sawing, engine work, painting and cleaning while the rest of the building can be designed for a home including kitchen, bathroom and living room. Of course this does make the sick day a little hard to swing but you can also take advantage of after-work and weekend hours.
